Michael’s Story

Michael Wayne Moore November 17, 1978 - May 24, 2022
Watchtower History YouTube channel releases “Michael’s Story” following shunning suicide.

This video is hard to watch as Michael tells his small town story. Midway through this video we learn from Jeff, who has never been a Jehovah’s Witness, that he had become friends with Michael since this interview—and he blames the Watchtower for his death. Michael took his life, on Tuesday, May 24, 2022.

Michael had worked for Tullahoma City Schools for 22 years, and had become an elder in his local congregation. He tells how his conscience bothered him regarding the way the elder body would question young sisters in cases of sexual activity in judicial committees. Citing the golden rule, Michael expressed how his conscience could not handle his own daughters being treated in such a manner, and how it is that he felt such questioning is not necessary in order to handle such cases.

Jeff goes on to outline the rest of Michael’s story sharing messages from October to his death.

As the Watchtower followed the standard moves to disfellowship him—as they had his best friend—we are told how his wife was encouraged to leave, the elders telling his family he is “mentally diseased,” being told his children would never be able to speak to him again if he was disfellowshipped, and they should select a new spiritual dad… an elder saying she should leave him, he would marry her instead.

Michael wanted his story to be made known, a tragic story of being shunned to death.

I am persuaded that neither death, nor life,
… will be able to separate us from the love of God
in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 8:38,39

It’s hard to believe one would lose his family and life being a golden-hearted compassionate Christian.

Michael’s story is one worth watching.”
While WT History Channel was having their discussion about the casualties of the Watchtower’s disfellowshipping policy, it is with great sadness that one of our viewers who reached out to us has himself become another victim of the shunning beliefs practiced by Jehovah’s Witnesses. While it is not the channel’s policy to profit financially nor acquire many views and subscribers, we would like to ask all who watch this video to pass it along to those you know in hopes of growing more awareness to this contextually misapplied scriptural policy of the Governing body and the wake of disaster it leaves behind. Michael’s story is one worth watching. Thank You.

They should be held accountable for Michael’s death. My heart goes out to his family. This organization should be closed down.

Just wanted to say I don’t believe michaels reasons for killing himself, people can believe what they want,it involved other reasons, not molestations,he was a elder, but he just stepped down,no we’re not perfect, but this is a lie, don’t blame us for his killing himself,he did that on his own,he knew he wasn’t suppose to have a gun to,but he did,Jehovah knows,so don’t judge something you know nothing about!,or rumors!,Satan is after all of us,believe what you will!
