I worked at Brooklyn Bethel from the mid-1970s until the early 1980s.
I don’t give exact dates because I’d like to stay semi-anonymous and thereby remain undisfellowshipped, while helping to maintain this site for my good friend, Barbara. The only reason I’m not is due to a bureaucratic technicality that I’ll explain later. I still have a lot of elderly Witness relatives who would be forced into extra stress for themselves if they felt pressured to shun. In this particular state, fortunately, I remained able to care for my elderly parents and an aunt with Alzheimers. after someone clarified to them that my “disfellowshipping” didn’t go through. I was shunned for a few years by some of my Witness relatives and my some from our local congregation because I told them about my disassociation letter which was read in the congregation. When until they found out that the letter I wrote the congregation disassociating myself was rejected by the Service Department through a friend in the Writing Department who thought that we shun and I don’t need extra repercussions from a lot of friends. Even after leaving, I continued to work on specific research projects assigned by a member of the Governing Body. Those assignments began in 1977 even though my primary work was for the Art Department.
