KIRO-TV, Channel 7 in Seattle, Washington, reported on August 13, 2019, that an Assembly Hall in Puyallup was damaged by fire – an apparent case of arson. The Pierce County Fire Marshal is investigating what appears to be another attack on local Jehovah’s Witnesses. Two other reported incidents occurred during March 2018. [Video included.]
The KIRO-TV report stated that “Federal authorities are investigating after a suspicious fire broke out at the Puyallup Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses on Tuesday morning…Central Pierce Fire and Rescue also responded…”
The fire was on the exterior and did not cause extensive damage. But, according to the fire officials, there was some smoke damage to the interior of the building as well.
KIRO7 expanded its report by stating…”This is one of several attacks on Jehovah’s Witness Halls. The incidents started with two arsons March 19, 2018, at a Tumwater Kingdom Hall and a Hall on Cain Road in Olympia. ON May 15, someone sprayed a Yelm Kingdom Hall with gunfire. The Hall on Cain Road was hit with arson again and destroyed on July 3. A suspicious device was found at a Yelm Hall August 8. In December 2018, a sixth incident saw a Lacy Hall completely destroyed by fire…The Pierce County Fire Marshal is investigating the cause.”
