The stalker, an ex-Jehovah’s Witness who describes herself as a “celebrity”, a supporter of survivors of child sexual abuse, and an “advocate for law reform”, was found to have “followed and stalked [Say Sorry team members] across the internet” over many years with the deliberate intention to cause harm, including “mental harm”.
The court was satisfied that the stalker engaged in stalking, committed prohibited behaviour, and harassment, on hundreds of occasions over many years, and that such behaviour would “cause a reasonable person to be in fear” for their personal safety.
The court stated that it was satisfied that the material published on the internet by the stalker adversely “influences the actions of others” within the Ex-Jehovah’s Witnesses community towards individual Say Sorry members and those who support their initiative.
The court also added that the comments and prolific quantity of material published online by the stalker were “demeaning” and “derogatory”.
Two special court orders were also issued ordering the stalker to immediately remove the copious amounts of online material that she had published about individual Say Sorry members.
